Ill. district considers relaxing guidelines on social media use

School-board officials in Springfield, Ill., are considering a proposal to allow social-networking in district schools. Social media sites are currently blocked on school computers, but the proposed policies would allow teachers to interact with students for academic purposes and allow the sites to be used in the classroom as educational tools.
