Railroads work on PTC systems as federal deadline gets closer

Amtrak, Class I railroads and commuter railroads are at work on their own installation plans as part of a federal requirement to implement a positive train control system by 2015, writes Jeff Stagl. In addition, railroads are closely monitoring regulatory developments. The FRA is scheduled to release a revised implementation rule in 2012 to address the industry’s implementation concerns.
