Analysis: Major central banks turn to shock therapy

Investors should expect more surprise decisions by the European Central Bank and Federal Reserve as the central banks run out of traditional tactics used to assist markets. "It makes sense that with the artillery becoming depleted, central banks want more bang for their buck now," said Investec's chief economist, Philip Shaw. "One way of doing that is to launch surprises in markets."
