China issues clinical-trial waiver for expanded list of Class II devices

China's Food and Drug Administration has added 140 Class II medical devices to a list of those no longer subject to clinical-trial requirements with registration submissions. Manufacturers of these low-risk devices will, however, have to submit a detailed comparison between the new product and an equivalent device already on the market to establish its safety and efficiency.
