Colo. district uses expanded school day to boost student achievement

Schools in a Colorado district are overhauling their schedules to allow time for before- and after-school enrichment and support for students in an effort to improve achievement. The day at one middle school can stretch as long as eight hours for some students -- an initiative led through the National Center on Time and Learning's pilot program that began in 2012 and is supported by state's Department of Education and the Legacy Foundation.
