What's in a cough?

Canine kennel cough is commonly referred to now as canine infectious respiratory disease, writes veterinarian John DeVries, and it can be caused by more than one infectious agent. Symptoms include a hacking cough that is sometimes accompanied by fever and a runny nose. The condition can sometimes progress to pneumonia, according to Dr. DeVries, and vaccinations are the best way to help protect dogs from CIRD.
