Niemira: Retailers to hire fewer seasonal workers

Retailers will hire about 550,000 seasonal workers this holiday, down from almost 600,000 workers last year, says a retail industry association. "The industry is cutting employment," said Michael Niemira, chief economist for the ICSC. "To the extent it saves retailers money, that is extremely important for this holiday season because there's every reason to worry about sales."
