Boeing finds it needs to sweat the small stuff

A new wave of cost-cutting is sweeping the world, but here's proof that you can't afford to skimp on the nuts and bolts. Boeing, mere days after delaying the first 787 Dreamliner flights until next year, now says it has a problem with the fasteners holding the first five Dreamliners together. The big headache reportedly stems from a defect even smaller than the fasteners themselves -- burrs that keep the hardware from sitting properly in their holes.
