Service dogs aid veterans with disabilities

Certified therapy dogs like Deuce, a chocolate Labrador retriever, are helping rehabilitate veterans with major disabilities. "Medical technology has given us the opportunity to save more lives with this conflict, but they are surviving devastating injuries," said Harvey Naranj, a certified occupational therapy assistant at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. "These soldiers are a very young population ... (they are) fighting to get their independence back, and dogs give them a sense of independence."
