Work-life balance suffers as economy worsens

The economic downturn has caused a reversal in the trend toward a balanced work-home life that has been so important to U.S. workers in the past decade. To feel more secure about keeping their jobs, people are working longer hours and are more willing to take on diverse tasks, while giving up flex time, plans to work part-time and vacations.
