Jean-Paul Chifflet, secretary general of Credit Agricole's largest shareholder, Federation Nationale du Credit Agricole, will succeed Georges Pauget as CEO of the third-biggest bank in France by market value. Credit Agricole posted third-quarter profits of €289 million, a 21% drop from the same period last year. Analysts had expected earnings of about €128 million. "My mission at Credit Agricole SA, which entailed managing the group throughout the crisis period and reconfiguring the bank to prepare it for the post-crisis period, is nearing completion," Pauget said.
