Delta lease with ATL moves closer to approval

The transportation committee of the Atlanta City Council has approved a new lease between Delta Air Lines and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after the FAA said its fears over reduced competition had been allayed. Under the seven-year lease extension, airport officials must essentially get Delta's permission for major capital projects, but the FAA said the impact on "ATL should be minimal in light of the availability of other sources of capacity funding." The full city council is expected to vote on the lease later this month.
