U.S. hospitals hire social-media specialists

Hospitals are hiring specialists to help physicians learn to use social-media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as to communicate with patients and to strengthen connections with stakeholders. Experts say that hospitals are mainly using social media for marketing and public relations but that the technology could be leveraged to improve patient hand-offs and quality of care.
