Business coalition opposes new domain names

The Association of National Advertisers has formed a coalition of 87 companies and associations opposing a dramatic expansion of domain names that would permit people to use any almost word to the right of a dot, even a brand name. The Coalition for Responsible Internet Domain Oversight contends that the move by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers would cause businesses and other concerns to waste resources buying up the names just to prevent their use by others.
