25 projects are selected for i3 grant funding

Last week, the U.S. Department of Education announced the winners of the latest round of Investing in Innovation -- or i3 -- grants, 25 recipients who will share $135 million to make their ideas a reality. The grants were divided into "validation" grants, which are the furthest along, and "development" grants, which went to recipients in the beginning stages of their ideas. Expeditionary Learning, a validation grant recipient, plans to create free instructional resources for teachers implementing the Common Core State Standards.
