C-stores should look to seasonal candies to drive sales

C-stores can no longer ignore the sales opportunity of seasonal candies as c-stores beat grocery and discount stores as grab-and-go destinations, according to NPD. With candy being the top grab-and-go item, and as consumers gear up for holiday candy-giving, c-stores are in a "prime position to meet customers’ last minute needs with a section devoted to seasonal candy products," writes Erin Rigik. The NCA estimates that holidays such as Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas/Hanukkah will account for $7 billion in sales this year.
