Caltrans: Demolition of Bay Bridge requires extraordinary care

It will take three years, $281 million and great care to demolish the old Bay Bridge in California. The project is expected to be as difficult to accomplish as was the construction of the new bridge. "The old bridge is the world's largest armed bow and arrow," Caltrans bridge engineer Brian Maroney said. "We have to de-string it very carefully or it will go boom!"
