Cocoa prices down slightly

The West African harvest has calmed concerns of a short-term cocoa supply shortage and prices on the ICE Futures exchange was down 2.3% to $2,586 a ton, the lowest since Oct. 3. "The weather is good now…and arrivals at ports are increasing throughout the region," said Jack Scoville, vice president at Price Futures Group. However, cocoa prices are still up 20% since July, and stockpiles at ICE-certified warehouses are at their lowest level since the end of 2011.
