Pension-derisking oversight has plan execs worried

Executives who work with corporate pension plans are preparing for regulators to assess use of annuity purchases and lump-sum distribution to derisk liabilities, and they're concerned about where the process might lead, experts say. The U.S. Labor Department's Employee Retirement Income Security Act Advisory Council has suggested that the agency give plan sponsors more explicit guidance on how derisking should be accomplished.
