Questions raised over equity of Ohio's education-funding formula

Some school districts in Ohio with high numbers of minority students stand to get less state aid per student next year than some less-diverse districts, under a new formula for funding education, a recent newspaper analysis shows. The findings have raised questions about whether the formula is achieving its mission of making education funding more equitable. However, education officials point to data showing low-income districts -- including those with high numbers of minority students -- are receiving more funding under the formula than under prior formulas.
