India draws Deere, Caterpillar

Illinois-based Caterpillar recently added $200 million to its investment in India so it can increase capacity and expand engine and backhoe loader production. And, although Deere & Co. once thought the Indian market was too small to enter, it did and has started to manufacture its new 5003 series of small, low horsepower tractors, which are now of interest to U.S. hobby farmers.
