Survey finds consumer support for unbundled airfares

A new study by Amadeus North America shows that 53% of fliers prefer to buy the cheapest ticket they can find, then add on the cost of extra services. Only 18% of respondents said they would rather buy a ticket with all fees bundled into the base fare. Pillows and blankets, seat selection and food and beverage were the services most often cited as fair game for unbundling, though 49% of respondents thought a checked bag should be included in base fares.
