Breast-feeding, formula best for pain relief in newborns

Israeli researchers reported in Pediatrics that formula feeding and breast-feeding are the best pain relief options for newborns during heel-lancing. The study compared no intervention, sucking without feeding, holding by the mother, use of oral glucose, oral formula and breast-feeding and found anything was better than nothing but oral formula and breast-feeding were best.
