Google tries engagement model for YouTube ads

YouTube has begun testing a new model for pre-roll video ads, giving users the option to skip directly to their target videos. Owner Google says the practice will be valuable in analyzing data on both users and ad quality, similar to Google's pay-for-performance model for search-based advertising.
