Ads and Microsoft's camera-enabled Kinect

The new Kinect video game system uses a camera to capture the movements of game players who can control game action without a hand-held device. In remarks at an investor conference, Microsoft's Dennis Durkin, who runs the Xbox business, seemed to indicate that the camera could be used to gather information about game players for the purposes of targeting advertising. In a later statement, Microsoft clarified its position, saying, "Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE do not use any information captured by Kinect for advertising targeting purposes."
