Illinois officials move to tighten rules at large livestock operations

Regulators in Illinois are formulating a plan to tighten oversight of the state's 3,500 concentrated animal feedlot operations, or CAFOs. The new proposals come in response to a recent EPA report showing the state wasn't doing enough to regulate CAFOs, some of which produce as much waste as some small cities.
