As "fiscal cliff" nears, calls grow for DOD budget cuts

Since the presidential election, lawmakers have become more vocal about the need for Pentagon budget cuts to be included in any deal to prevent the U.S. from going over the "fiscal cliff," a series of tax increases and spending cuts scheduled to occur at the end of the year. Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin, D-Mich., has said the military budget could be trimmed by $10 billion a year.
