More investors embrace non-traded REITs

Non-traded real estate investment trusts raised more than $8.5 billion in the first half of 2013, industry figures show. Interest in these investments is growing despite stepped up due diligence efforts by broker-dealers. That is because non-traded REITs are adapting with new fee structures and because they offer a good diversification strategy for many portfolios.
