Nervous U.S. retailers plan earlier Thanksgiving openings

U.S. retailers anxious about slipping consumer confidence are planning earlier openings this Thanksgiving. Target, Toys R Us and Wal-Mart Stores say they will have longer store hours than usual on Thanksgiving and will offer bargains that they ordinarily save for Black Friday. Other chains that have waited until midnight to open in the past said they will invite shoppers in considerably earlier this year.
