Obesity is linked to greater likelihood of heart disease

Obese or overweight people had an increased risk of suffering heart attack and ischemic heart disease even if they didn't have metabolic syndrome, but the risk was greater in those with metabolic syndrome, according to a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine. Among people without metabolic syndrome, the odds of suffering a heart attack rose as their weight increased.
