Ohio county plan consolidates PSAPs, keeps local dispatchers

Columbiana County in Ohio is proposing to consolidate its 9-1-1 dispatching services from five public service answering points to one, but that does not mean local communities would lose their dispatchers. Commissioner Tim Weigle said each police department would retain its dispatch services but 9-1-1 calls would go to a single public service answering point before being transferred to the appropriate police or fire dispatcher.
