Review gives top marks to 2 opioid prescribing guidelines

Experts who reviewed 13 opioid prescribing guidelines gave high marks to two -- one from the American Pain Society and American Academy of Pain Medicine and one from the Canadian National Opioid Use Guideline Group -- that apply to a broad range of adult patients and were deemed of excellent quality and well-researched and explained. The review in the Annals of Internal Medicine found seven guidelines were of low to intermediate quality and recommended against using the other four.
