San Francisco-area BioEconomy Initiative plans to speed drug development

Backers of the Bay Area BioEconomy Initiative plan to coordinate Northern California biotech community efforts to accelerate clinical trials and drug discovery, brainstorm ways to meet patient needs, and integrate digital technologies into routine medical practice. Una Ryan will serve as chairwoman, and backers include Deloitte, Amgen unit Onyx, BayBio, Agilent Technologies, Alta Partners, Bayer, BioCentury Publications, DLA Piper, the Gladstone Institutes, Johnson & Johnson, Oncomed, Pfizer, Stanford University, and the University of California, San Francisco.
