Study: Marketers are using the wrong tactics to boost e-mail subs

Many marketers skip the most effective ways of gaining new e-mail subscribers, opting instead for easier tactics that are often less successful, according to an ExactTarget report. Capturing e-mail subs through Facebook and providing sign-up buttons and forms on websites are popular, but not as effective as paid search ads with links to e-mail opt-in pages or mobile apps that require an e-mail to log in.
