New stretch of Canadian highway is based on recycled tires

About 1 million discarded tires were used to build a portion of Highway 1 that connects St. Stephen and Waweig, New Brunswick, Canada. The tires, which were shredded and used as soil to build a raised roadbed, are an environmentally friendly feature of the highway.
