Obituary: Teacher reassured children with learning disabilities

Sherri Lee Venhousen, 47, a veteran special education teacher who five weeks ago was diagnosed with cancer died Tuesday. "When it came to her students, she could be as sweet as pie but also as tough as nails," said Principal Tim Hoeksema. "She was a fierce advocate for them, the one who'd go to war to make sure they got what they needed to learn."
