Shale technology boosts natural gas supplies

Although domestic oil production is on the decline, shale plays boosted natural gas production last year, experts said Tuesday in Houston at the Independent Petroleum Association of America's annual meeting. Technology used to develop the Barnett Shale in North Texas now is being implemented in Canada and the rest of the world. "It will be interesting to see how many additional resource plays will be found and how they will develop," said Mark Papa, chairman and chief executive of EOG Resources.
