Wildfire prevention eyed in new Colorado bill

Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter is going forward with the "Healthy Forests/Vibrant Communities Act of 2009," which allots $5.5 million to train firefighters and make dead-tree removal a top priority. In addition, the pine beetle destroys up to 500,000 new acres annually, and the U.S. Forest Service has requested $175 million to help with this issue on federal lands in the Rocky Mountain region.
