Cargill vows $3.25 million for cocoa sustainability training

Cargill said it will spend $3.25 million on training for Ivory Coast farmers seeking UTZ and Rain Forest Alliance certification for their cocoa. The company also is expected to pay more than $9 million in 2011 for 50,000 tons of certified cocoa from Ivory Coast, with half of the money going directly to farmers and the rest going to cooperatives that provide farmer support.
