Idled ethanol plant in Pa. wants to sell water

The idled Bionol Clearfield ethanol plant in Clearfield, Pa., has filed an application with the Susquehanna River Basin Commission to sell a portion of its water allocation from the Susquehanna River to a company undertaking hydraulic fracturing. The ethanol plant wants to sell about 200,000 to 400,000 gallons of its 2.5 million-gallon daily water allocation to the natural gas industry. The ethanol plant shut down production and filed for Chapter 7 liquidation bankruptcy in July 2010.
