Nielsen: People are watching less live TV, doing more multitasking

Daily viewing of live television averaged four hours and 18 minutes in the second quarter of this year, five minutes less than in the second quarter of 2011, according to Nielsen. The market research firm also reported nearly 40% of the U.S. viewing audience is using a smartphone or tablet computer while watching TV at least once a day. The figure jumps to 85% for those who reported such viewing at least once a month.
