Scientist says modernity may be making humans dumber

Natural mutations that once enabled humans to expand their intelligence as they evolved have become risky thanks to a modern environment that no longer depends on natural selection, according to Dr. Gerald Crabtree of Stanford University, who says the change could lead to human beings with less intelligence. "It is very likely that within 3000 years (~120 generations) we have all sustained two or more mutations harmful to our intellectual or emotional stability," Crabtree wrote in a study on the topic.
