U.S. Navy, Hilton declare war on mattress waste

The Hilton hotel chain and the U.S. Navy have begun separate programs to recycle old mattresses. About 90% of used mattresses can be recycled, and the recycling process is actually cheaper than discarding used mattresses. "There's no reason a mattress should go to a landfill," says mattress-recycling entrepreneur Ralph Bogan.
