$2.8B worth of transmission-infrastructure projects planned in Ohio, Pa.

FirstEnergy Corp. plans to invest $2.8 billion in transmission-infrastructure improvement projects in Ohio and parts of Pennsylvania. The project, which includes the reconstruction of 7,200 miles of transmission lines and upgrades to about 170 substations, is slated to start in 2014 and finish in 2017. Work could create more than 1,100 jobs.
