Artificial ash cloud created to test how aircraft cope

The eruption of an Icelandic volcano in 2010 spewed enough ash into the upper atmosphere to shut down most of aviation in Europe for several days. Using about a ton of the ash from that blast, Airbus and easyJet spread a small ash cloud Wednesday to test how airliners can fly safely in such conditions.
