Health groups issue guidelines for obesity treatment

The Obesity Society, the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology have released guidelines urging physicians to help obese patients identify the best weight-loss diet or program that would work for them. "The overall objective is quite a tall order: to get primary care practitioners to own weight management as they own hypertension management," obesity researcher Donna Ryan stated. The guidelines also address healthy lifestyle, cholesterol and cardiovascular risk calculations.
