India moves to bar sales of unsafe drugs

India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is preparing to take dangerous drugs off the market. A panel of experts will be established by the ministry to assess drug formulations and determine which medicines are potentially risky or of uncertain therapeutic benefit. "If two or more countries remove a drug from their market on grounds of efficacy and safety, then the continued marketing of the drug in the country will be considered for examination and appropriate action," ministry officials said.
