Officials to weigh adding more magnet schools to N.C. district

Officials from North Carolina's Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are considering a plan to expand the district's selection of magnet schools in 2014-15, including creating a new program that would focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Other options under consideration include a new magnet high school on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a new Montessori magnet. The board is expected to vote on the proposals next month.
