For personal care giants, sustainability goes beyond sourcing

Personal care product makers strive for sustainability in how their products are used -- not just how ingredients are sourced. P&G wants to have 70% of all washing machine loads use cold water by 2020, while Unilever is looking to make products that rinse more quickly as a way to cut water consumption. Dow and Solvay also aim to lower the energy and resource use required for their products, Vincent Valk writes.
