Report: Shutdown didn't dampen Oct. imports

Imports at U.S. ports were up 6.5% in October compared with the same month last year, despite the government shutdown, according to an NRF report. "The question at this point isn't how much merchandise arrived but how much consumers bought and how they are going to react as economic talks continue in Washington," said Jonathan Gold, NRF's vice president for supply chain and customs policy.
